Why It Matters

Many students need more than the school day alone to succeed academically and build confidence in their abilities. Without consistent support, learning gaps can widen and students can begin to disengage.

KL Impact Academy provides structured, supportive learning environments where students receive academic reinforcement, encouragement, and enrichment. By offering afterschool and summer programming, the Academy helps students strengthen foundational skills, build confidence as learners, and stay engaged in their education.

Testimonials From Our Participants

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for all the guidance and support that the MDTMT program has given my son, DeAngelo. The mentorship has truly been literally life-changing, and I can’t put into words how much the wisdom and encouragement he’s received has impacted him & his growth. This program has not only helped him grow professionally, but has also inspired him to be a better person. The lessons he’s learned continue to shape his journey, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have had MDTMT & Keynon Lake as a mentor. Thank you for believing in DeAngelo and for helping him unlock his potential in ways I never thought possible.

The My Daddy Taught Me That program has truly been a blessing to my three boys. Being a single mom raising young men can be tough, but this program has given them guidance, structure, and community support. It’s helped them—and so many others—learn respect, leadership, and the value of making good choices.
Through Mr. Keyon Lake’s mentorship, my oldest son has grown into a role model himself, now working in the school system and mentoring others. This program continues to build young leaders and change lives in our community. I’m proud to volunteer and support My Daddy Taught Me That for the difference it’s made in my family and so many others.

I would like to share a quick story. A few years ago I was a therapeutic foster parent. My top priority was finding the right resources for the kids in my care.
I was looking for a program that would help my youth build confidence, instill good choices and decision-making, and overall just thrive. That’s what I found in MDTMT. And seriously this program has been a lifesaver!
Keynon Lake’s work continuing his father’s legacy is just incredible. The dedication he shows towards the kids in this county is truly inspiring. I have seen firsthand the positive impact MDTMT has had on my kids, and countless others. The kids that I had during the time that were in the MDTMT program, have gone on to have good careers, and are having a good productive/successful life.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to give Keynon Lake and My Daddy Taught Me a massive thank you. You guys and this organization are making a real difference.
